Between the Seven Sisters and Eastbourne bay is the stunning famous red and white striped Beachy Head lighthouse perched at the base of the highest chalk cliff in the United Kingdom. The popular seaside town of Eastbourne, with its pier and long seaside promenade offers a suitable location for our farewells for people who have had links with the south coast. The maritime port of Newhaven is also close by, having played a major role as a port during the Second World War, especially during the Dieppe Raid in 1942. Newhaven is situated on the River Ouse which leads to the ancient town of Lewes. |
